During the pandemic we’ve developed some creative new ways to continue providing tutoring and troubleshooting to members of the community. Here are some of the ways we can help you with your Apple devices:
Mac Screen Sharing: If you have a Mac computer that needs attention we can use the Mac’s built-in Screen Sharing software to see your computer and help you troubleshoot problems. No additional “remote access”
software needs to be installed. We’ve prepared a video tutorial showing you how to set up your computer to participate in Screen Sharing should you need it in the future. Link to the video is here.
Email & telephone consultation: In some cases a question can be easily answered or a simple problem quickly resolved with an email exchange or telephone call. You can reach us at 530-757-1422.
Customized “Quick ‘n Dirty” video demos just for you: Yesterday we taught a client how to create a Contacts group so that she could email everyone in the group at once. We did this by making a quick, short video tutorial in which we demonstrated creating a Contact group and then sending an email to the group. For some questions or issues, this is proving to be another helpful tool during this time when we can’t teach in person or make in-home calls.
“Front porch” tech help: We have helped solve some iPhone problems on folks’ front porches — for example, one client called us because her Contacts app “had gone missing.” We drove to her home, called her from our parked car, had her place her phone just outside her front door and go back inside. We then masked and gloved up, picked up the phone and there on her front porch we got her app back to her phone for her. We placed the phone back on the bench ourside the front door and after we got back in our car, she opened the door and retrieved her phone. Another client needed to re-install her “My Health” app on her phone but was having trouble. “Front porch” help to the rescue!
Lookout monitoring: For ongoing, passive monitoring of your Mac computer’s well-being, we now offer Lookout, a program which is easily installed on your Mac and will alert us to any signs of impending trouble such as backup failures and malware detection. Click here to read more about Lookout.
